Washington Capitals: A History of Team Captains
The Washington Capitals, colloquially known as the Caps, are a professional ice hockey team based in Washington, D.C.
The Capitals compete in the National Hockey League (NHL) as a member of the Metropolitan Division. The team was founded in 1974 and has won one Stanley Cup championship in 2018. The Capitals have also won four Presidents Trophies, awarded to the team with the best regular season record in the NHL. The Capitals have had a total of 19 team captains in their history, with Alex Ovechkin serving as the current captain since 2010.
