Halyna Hutchins, the director of photography for the film "Rust," is fatally shot on set in New Mexico.

According to witnesses, actor and producer Alec Baldwin discharged a prop firearm during a rehearsal, striking Hutchins.

April 9, 1979:

Brandon Lee, son of martial arts legend Bruce Lee, is killed on set in a similar incident.

Lee was accidentally shot by a prop gun that was supposed to fire blanks.
